How does a commission-free taxi work in Spain?
amigo taxi app lets you send a request to nearby licensed taxi drivers at ten Spanish airports and the resorts around them. You see the route and an approximate fare based on the official municipal tariff before you send it. There is no platform commission, no booking fee and no surge pricing on top.
No passenger commission
amigo taxi app adds nothing to the fare. You pay the driver what the meter shows, under the tariff set by the municipality.
Approximate fare up front
The app calculates an approximate fare from the published tariff for your route, including the airport supplement, before you send the request.
Licensed taxis only
Requests go to drivers with a municipal taxi licence and a calibrated taximeter, not to private cars.
What you pay for
You pay for the taxi journey itself. amigo taxi app does not add a commission, booking fee or service charge to your request, and it does not raise the fare when demand is high.
amigo taxi app does not collect or process the fare. You pay the driver in the vehicle, in cash or by card if the driver offers it. The meter and the printed receipt are the reference, exactly as in any licensed Spanish taxi.
amigo taxi app is a digital request platform. It does not employ drivers, does not assign a driver to you and does not operate transport. A nearby licensed driver sees your request and decides whether to accept it.
How the fare is calculated
Every Spanish municipality or island council publishes a taxi tariff: a flagfall, a price per kilometre for the day tariff (T1) and the night or holiday tariff (T2), a waiting rate, and supplements for the airport, the port, luggage or public holidays.
amigo taxi app applies that tariff to the distance of your route and shows an approximate figure. The final amount is what the meter reads at the end, so traffic, waiting time and an interurban stretch can move it up or down. The guide to taxi prices in Spain explains each component.
How amigo differs from Cabify, Uber and Bolt
Cabify, Uber, Bolt and FreeNow operate in the large Spanish cities, usually with a mix of licensed taxis and private-hire cars, and they set their own prices. Those prices can rise with demand and include a platform fee.
amigo taxi app works only with municipal-licensed taxis and shows the official meter tariff. There is no surge and no commission on the passenger side. Drivers pay a fixed membership, so nothing is deducted from your fare.
In resort towns along the Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and the Balearic Islands, and on Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, ride-hailing coverage is thin or absent and the official taxi is the standard option. That is where amigo is designed to be useful.
Who receives your request
Requests are only visible to drivers who hold a municipal taxi licence in the area and have registered on amigo taxi partner. Each driver sees the pickup point, the destination and the approximate fare, and accepts only if the trip suits them.
Once a driver accepts, you see the vehicle details and can contact the driver directly to agree the exact meeting point, for example the taxi rank outside arrivals.
Requesting a taxi in four steps
- 1Open amigo taxi app and allow location access if you want to use your current position as the pickup point.
- 2Choose the pickup and the destination, for example Málaga Airport to Marbella or your hotel to Alicante Airport.
- 3Check the route, the distance and the approximate fare based on the official tariff.
- 4Send the request and wait for a nearby licensed driver to accept. Pay the driver in the vehicle at the end of the trip.
