Taxi Prices in Spain 2026: How the Official Tariff Works
How Spanish municipal taxi tariffs work in 2026: flagfall, per-kilometre rate, airport supplement and night tariff, with figures for Málaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma and Tenerife.
amigo taxi app is a taxi request platform, not a transport operator. The figures below are calculated from the official municipal taxi tariffs valid in 2026 at the nine airports the app covers. They are references shown before a request is sent; the taximeter in the vehicle sets the final fare, and you pay the driver directly.
The taximeter
Every licensed taxi in Spain charges by taximeter under a tariff approved by the municipality or island council. Flagfall, price per kilometre, waiting time and supplements are printed on a tariff sheet inside the vehicle.
What amigo taxi app shows
The app applies the same tariff to your route and shows an approximate fare before you send the request. No commission, booking fee or surge is added; the driver receives the full meter fare.
How Spanish taxi tariffs work
Taxi fares in Spain are regulated locally. Each city council (ayuntamiento), metropolitan area or island council (cabildo, consell) publishes a tariff each year, usually in January. The structure is the same everywhere; only the amounts change.
Flagfall (bajada de bandera)
A fixed amount charged when the meter starts. In 2026 it ranges from about €1.90 in Málaga to €3.65 in Ibiza. Some cities also set a minimum fare that applies to very short trips.
Per kilometre, T1 and T2
T1 is the day tariff on working days. T2 is the night, weekend and public-holiday tariff and is roughly 15–25 % higher per kilometre. The meter switches automatically at the published hour.
Airport supplement
A fixed supplement for trips starting or ending at the airport, between €2.50 and €5.50 depending on the airport. It is charged once and is already included in the estimates on this page.
Night and holiday hours
Most tariffs start the night rate at 21:00 or 22:00 and end it at 06:00 or 07:00. Barcelona's T2 runs from 20:00 to 08:00. Sundays and public holidays use T2 all day.
Luggage
Normal luggage in the boot is included. A few municipalities charge a small supplement per bulky item; Alicante and Málaga do not charge per bag.
Port and station supplements
Barcelona applies a fixed €46 fare between the airport and the cruise port and a supplement for Sants station. Palma and the Canary Islands add small port supplements for ferry and cruise terminals.
Pets and extras
Small pets in a carrier are usually free; some tariffs add a supplement for larger animals. Waiting time is charged per hour when the taxi stands still in traffic or at your request.
Official 2026 taxi tariffs at the nine airports
Amounts published by each municipality or island council for 2026. Trips that leave the airport's municipality run partly on the interurban tariff, which is why long transfers are quoted as ranges.

- • Málaga Airport → Marbella: ≈ €70 by day, €81 at night
- • Alicante Airport → Benidorm: zone fare ≈ €86.50 / €99.50
- • Barcelona Airport → cruise port: fixed €46; minimum from the airport €21

Why the meter can differ from the estimate
The estimate assumes a direct route at the published per-kilometre rate. The final meter fare moves for four reasons.
Traffic and waiting
When the taxi stands still or crawls, the meter switches to the hourly waiting rate. Twenty minutes in traffic on the way into Barcelona or Palma can add several euros.
Night, weekend and holiday tariff
If your trip starts in T1 and crosses into T2, the higher rate applies from that moment. Sundays and public holidays run on T2 all day.
Interurban tariff
Once the taxi leaves the municipality of the airport, the interurban rate applies for the remaining kilometres. Málaga to Marbella, Palma to Alcúdia and Gran Canaria Airport to Maspalomas are all partly interurban.
Tolls and detours
Motorway tolls, where they still exist, are added to the fare. A different route requested by the passenger or forced by a road closure changes the distance.
How amigo taxi app shows the fare
amigo taxi app takes the official tariff for the airport, applies it to the distance of your route and shows a day and a night estimate before you send the request. Nearby licensed drivers see the same information and decide whether to accept.
There is no commission on the passenger side, no booking fee and no surge pricing. The driver receives the full meter fare, which you pay in the vehicle in cash or by card if the driver offers it. Drivers pay a fixed membership to use the platform, not a percentage of each trip.
Check the estimate for your destination
Every destination page shows the distance, the duration and the day and night estimate from the official tariff, in both directions.
