At every Aena airport in Spain the official taxi rank is on the arrivals level, marked with "Taxi" signs. Licensed taxis run on a taximeter under the municipal tariff, plus a fixed airport supplement. This guide covers the nine airports amigo taxi app serves, with the rank location, the tariff, typical trips and the public transport alternative for each.

How airport taxis work in Spain

Spanish airports are operated by Aena, and every terminal has an official taxi rank at the arrivals exit. You queue, a marshal or the next driver in line takes you, and the taximeter starts when the trip begins. Taxis are licensed by the municipality where the airport sits and carry a visible licence number and tariff sheet inside the vehicle.

The fare is made up of a flagfall, a price per kilometre and supplements. Airports add a fixed supplement of a few euros. Between roughly 21:00 or 22:00 and 06:00 or 07:00, and on weekends and public holidays, the night tariff (T2) applies with a higher per-kilometre rate. Trips that leave the airport's municipality switch to the interurban tariff, which is why long transfers are quoted as ranges.

amigo taxi app shows the same tariff before you send a request. You pick the airport and the destination, see the distance and an approximate fare, and nearby licensed drivers decide whether to accept. You pay the driver in the vehicle; there is no commission or surge.

AGP · Costa del Sol · Andalucía

Málaga Airport (AGP)

26.8 M passengers in 2025
Where the taxi rank is

All arrivals at Málaga-Costa del Sol exit through the Terminal 3 arrivals hall. Follow the Aena "Taxi" signs; the rank is just outside on the arrivals level. Málaga taxis are white with a blue diagonal band and carry the Málaga city tariff; Marbella, Fuengirola and other coast towns are outside the city, so the interurban tariff applies for part of the trip.

  • • Ask for the printed receipt (recibo) at the end; it shows the licence number and the tariff applied.
  • • Most Málaga taxis accept cards, but say so before setting off.
ALC · Costa Blanca · Comunidad Valenciana

Alicante Airport (ALC)

19.9 M passengers in 2025
Where the taxi rank is

Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández has a single terminal. The rank is directly outside the arrivals hall on the ground floor (planta 0), signposted "Taxi". Trips to Benidorm and the other main resorts use zone-based fixed fares set by the municipality, so the price is predictable.

PMI · Mallorca · Illes Balears

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI)

33.8 M passengers in 2025
Where the taxi rank is

Taxis wait outside the arrivals hall on the ground floor of Palma's single terminal, following the "Taxi" signs. In July and August the queue can be long during evening arrival waves, but marshals load several taxis at a time and it moves quickly. Palma city has its own tariff; the rest of Mallorca is interurban.

Ibiza Airport (IBZ)

9 M passengers in 2025
Where the taxi rank is

Ibiza has one terminal. The rank is outside arrivals, a few metres from the exit doors. On summer nights the queue can be long because the whole island shares one taxi tariff set by the Consell Insular and demand peaks late. The L10 and L9 buses are the alternative.

Barcelona Airport (BCN)

TFS · Tenerife · Canarias

Tenerife South Airport (TFS)

13.9 M passengers in 2025
Where the taxi rank is

The rank at Tenerife Sur is directly outside the arrivals hall. There is no Uber or Cabify on Tenerife, so official taxis are the standard option. The airport is in Granadilla de Abona; Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos are short interurban trips of 20–25 minutes.

  • • For Puerto de la Cruz in the north, budget for a 90-minute interurban trip.
  • • Most drivers accept cards, but carry some cash for smaller towns.
LPA · Gran Canaria · Canarias

Gran Canaria Airport (LPA)

15.8 M passengers in 2025
Where the taxi rank is

The rank at Gran Canaria is outside the arrivals level, signposted from the baggage hall. The airport belongs to the municipality of Telde; Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and the southern resorts are interurban trips, so the app quotes a range rather than a fixed figure.

  • • Ask for the receipt; it includes the interurban tariff reference.

Lanzarote's Terminal 1 handles international flights; the rank is outside the arrivals hall. Terminal 2 serves inter-island flights and has its own smaller rank. Tips that apply at every airport

Use the official rank

Only board at the signposted taxi rank. People offering a taxi or private transfer inside the terminal are not licensed drivers.

Luggage

Standard luggage in the boot is included in the fare at all nine airports. Only a few municipalities charge a small per-item supplement for bulky items.

Receipts

Every licensed taxi prints a receipt with the licence number, the distance and the tariff applied. Ask for it if you need to claim expenses or raise a complaint.

Card payment

Card terminals are compulsory in Barcelona and common everywhere else. Confirm before departure and carry some cash on the islands.

Night tariff

The night or holiday tariff raises the per-kilometre rate by roughly 15–25 %. It starts at 21:00 or 22:00 depending on the airport and applies all day on Sundays and public holidays.

Airport taxi FAQ

Where is the taxi rank at Spanish airports?

At every Aena airport the official rank is on the arrivals level, directly outside the arrivals hall and marked with "Taxi" signs. At Barcelona there are separate ranks for Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

How much is the airport supplement for a taxi in Spain?

Each municipality sets its own supplement. In 2026 it ranges from €2.50 at Lanzarote and Fuerteventura to €5.50 at Málaga; Barcelona charges €4.60, Alicante €4.25 and Palma €4.50. It is added once per trip.

Is there a night tariff for airport taxis?

Yes. The T2 tariff applies at night, on weekends and on public holidays, with a higher per-kilometre rate. It starts at 21:00 in Palma and Ibiza, 22:00 in Málaga, Alicante and the Canary Islands, and 20:00 at Barcelona.

Can I pay for an airport taxi by card?

In Barcelona card payment is compulsory. At the other airports most taxis accept cards, but not all, so confirm with the driver before departure. You pay the driver directly; the app does not process payments.

Do I need to book an airport taxi in advance with amigo taxi app?

No. You can send a request when you land, or while you wait for your luggage. Nearby licensed drivers see the route and the approximate fare and decide whether to accept. There is no booking fee, commission or surge.
